Well, after the horror-struck silence that greeted my last offering, I bring to you the next! Again, it's not very Valentine-y, but it's based around a romantic-type theme.
Title: Dream Date
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Pairing: Jirou/Fuji
Rating: G
Warnings: None, except for fluff and my general cruddiness
Notes: Another of my drabbles based on requests, this time from
ninjaiguana. The otiginal challenge was set here! Let it also be known that Hyotei are not a team I care overly much about, and Fuji is someone I find diffcult to grasp, so I may be entirely barking up the wrong tree... but heck. It's a drabble, I'm only messin'. ;)
Dream date
For once, on one of their dates, Jirou was awake. Only just, but he was. Fuji didn't take the sleeping personally – he knew that was just the way Jirou was – but this time, he decided to try to prolong this uncommon state of affairs for as long as possible.
He smiled at Jirou's just-woken-up face. "Did you have any dreams?"
Jirou thought for a moment; then, to Fuji's delight, his eyes opened wide and he launched into an animated speech. "YES! I had a great dream! I was on a boat, out in the Pacific or somewhere. It was so sunny and nice, and you were with me." Jirou blushed a little, and Fuji smiled fondly. "We came to this island, and there were all these odd tribal people there – and they were all playing tennis! There were loads of them, and they" he blushed again "liked the look of you, and they captured you and tied you up – they said they were going to…" Jirou frowned in consternation. "Was it make you a gift to their leader, or sacrifice you to their god?" Jirou gave the matter a couple of moments' thought before waving a hand dismissively. "One or the other. Anyway, I got really mad, and challenged their leader to a match. He was pretty good, but of course, I won, and he had to leave the tribe in shame. And then they made me their chief, and you…" Jirou trailed off, not meeting Fuji's eyes.
"Yes?" Fuji's curiosity was piqued. Plus, Jirou was so cute when he went all shy.
"You were… my concubine!"
"And then…?"
"And then… I woke up. I think." Jirou smiled sheepishly.
Fuji smiled benevolently, but didn't press the point. "That sounds very interesting."
"It was! Do you think it means anything, Fuji?"
"Oh, my sister is better at interpreting dreams than me… but if they made you their chief, do you think that means you want to usurp Atobe and become captain of Hyotei?"
Jirou shook his head. "No way! Atobe is a really good captain, and I'd be terrible."
Fuji didn't want to ruin the mood by pointing out that that didn't stop everyone wanting to dispose of Atobe in some way from time to time. Instead, he returned to gently prodding Jirou about another aspect of the dream. "Still, I think the concubine part is fairly self-explanatory."
Jirou flushed, though Fuji was slightly disappointed that he didn't get much more response, as Jirou's expression had taken on its customary sleepiness. "All that dreaming has made me tired… Can I…?"
Fuji nodded. Jirou was already making himself comfortable again on the park grass, snuggling up to Fuji's side.
"Of course you can sleep. That dream sounds fascinating. Do you mind if I join you?"
Jirou opened one eye. "Not at all…" He opened the other, and smiled at Fuji. "It'd be cool if we could dream together."
Fuji settled down on the grass as well, gently putting a hand over Jirou's and stroking it lightly. "Let's try."

Passing through the park on his afternoon run, Kaidoh spotted his senpai sleeping peacefully under a tree. He wondered for a moment how long they'd been there, and whether he should wake them; but they looked so cute, smiling sweetly in their sleep like that, that, after watching them for several minutes while he made up his mind, in the end he didn't have the heart.
