Dec. 27th, 2005 12:51 amOK, inspired by
sublimeparadigm, I decided to do some music uploads for you all - oh, I can hear your thrilled "yay!"s from here! I was going to say this was "in the spirit of the season", but it feels like Christmas is long gone - largely to do with my work schedule this year, but Christmas has been a bit of a damp squib. Nothing terrible happened, but yesterday was just so boring I found myself getting so incredibly annoyed over little tiny things. The food, though, was excellent, it has to be said. :9 And I've got a couple of boxes of very fine chocolates - the sort that you know you should eat at the rate of one a day, to make them last, but you just can't. >.<;;
I've also got presents still to come from mother, so that's another reason why Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas this year. Hn! Ah well, I have two days off work now, so maybe I'll get a chance to go sale shopping and relax a bit. ^^' Including posting all those cards and things I still need to do. *cough**shuffle*
...OK, so that was a long tangent. Onto the music, finally! (Why the heck has MegaUpload gone all Japanese on us? And why doesn't Firefox have a "Copy shortcut" function in its right click menu?! *kicks it* I ain't seeing the appeal so much, y'know... *ahem*)
Anyone ever wanted to hear Ishida Akira sing? He doesn't do that anymore, so I was ages trying to find a song of his, and I finally came up with this, from Slayers: But But But. It's actually quite a nice songbut it'd be even better if a better singer did it. *hides* Am happy to have it in my collection, though!
Secondly, allow me to point out that I don't like Green Day especially - I don't care for their whole operation. It's a bit too grungy and muddy and American for me. However, I've been hearing When I Come Around at work quite a bit recently, and I actually really like it. It has that quality that I love in a song, that I'm going to have to find a word for - I think "evocative" is kind of it, but also "nostalgic" in a weird way. I dunno, it's a quality that, if I hear it in a song, tends to make me like the song, but I can't quite pin it down.
I've also never understood how people can actually buy and listen to Christmas music in their own homes. Come to that, I've never met anyone who doesn't hate Christmas music with a burning passion (well, except one, but you don't count, dear ;). So this is the most Christmassy song I have on my computer: Aozu - happy x2 Day!!
And this is the second most: The Vandals - Oi to the World. Oh, reminds me of John Peel, God rest his soul.
Finally, an oldie. Abba are a band I always forget how much I like, but Madonna's recent sampling of Gimme Gimme Gimme reminded me to dl some of their stuff. So I did, and found this hidden gem: King Kong Song. ^^' I really can't say anything about anyone else's taste in music, because I love novelty songs - I have copies of the Sunscreen Song, Chef from South Park's song, songs by the Goons and Laurel & Hardy; I love Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles, and all that other stuff people dimiss as worthless claptrap. I get great enjoyment from songs like that, usually cos they're actually, like, fun and enjoyable, rather than spending time being all "musical" and crap like that. XD So anyway, download it out of, uh, anticipation for the film, or something. ^^;;
Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think, if you dl any! ;D
