diamondlife: (Why do these things always happen to me?)
OK, inspired by [livejournal.com profile] sublimeparadigm, I decided to do some music uploads for you all - oh, I can hear your thrilled "yay!"s from here! I was going to say this was "in the spirit of the season", but it feels like Christmas is long gone - largely to do with my work schedule this year, but Christmas has been a bit of a damp squib. Nothing terrible happened, but yesterday was just so boring I found myself getting so incredibly annoyed over little tiny things. The food, though, was excellent, it has to be said. :9 And I've got a couple of boxes of very fine chocolates - the sort that you know you should eat at the rate of one a day, to make them last, but you just can't. >.<;;

I've also got presents still to come from mother, so that's another reason why Christmas doesn't really feel like Christmas this year. Hn! Ah well, I have two days off work now, so maybe I'll get a chance to go sale shopping and relax a bit. ^^' Including posting all those cards and things I still need to do. *cough**shuffle*

...OK, so that was a long tangent. Onto the music, finally! (Why the heck has MegaUpload gone all Japanese on us? And why doesn't Firefox have a "Copy shortcut" function in its right click menu?! *kicks it* I ain't seeing the appeal so much, y'know... *ahem*)

Anyone ever wanted to hear Ishida Akira sing? He doesn't do that anymore, so I was ages trying to find a song of his, and I finally came up with this, from Slayers: But But But. It's actually quite a nice song but it'd be even better if a better singer did it. *hides* Am happy to have it in my collection, though!

Secondly, allow me to point out that I don't like Green Day especially - I don't care for their whole operation. It's a bit too grungy and muddy and American for me. However, I've been hearing When I Come Around at work quite a bit recently, and I actually really like it. It has that quality that I love in a song, that I'm going to have to find a word for - I think "evocative" is kind of it, but also "nostalgic" in a weird way. I dunno, it's a quality that, if I hear it in a song, tends to make me like the song, but I can't quite pin it down.

I've also never understood how people can actually buy and listen to Christmas music in their own homes. Come to that, I've never met anyone who doesn't hate Christmas music with a burning passion (well, except one, but you don't count, dear ;). So this is the most Christmassy song I have on my computer: Aozu - happy x2 Day!!

And this is the second most: The Vandals - Oi to the World. Oh, reminds me of John Peel, God rest his soul.

Finally, an oldie. Abba are a band I always forget how much I like, but Madonna's recent sampling of Gimme Gimme Gimme reminded me to dl some of their stuff. So I did, and found this hidden gem: King Kong Song. ^^' I really can't say anything about anyone else's taste in music, because I love novelty songs - I have copies of the Sunscreen Song, Chef from South Park's song, songs by the Goons and Laurel & Hardy; I love Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles, and all that other stuff people dimiss as worthless claptrap. I get great enjoyment from songs like that, usually cos they're actually, like, fun and enjoyable, rather than spending time being all "musical" and crap like that. XD So anyway, download it out of, uh, anticipation for the film, or something. ^^;;

Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think, if you dl any! ;D

There's something so very wrong about waking up at 8.30 am on any day off, regardless of Christmassy goings-on. Just in general! Especially as I hadn't planned to be awke before 10... but then, I suppose falling asleep in front of Most Haunted (again) at 11.30 will do that to you. ^^;; Setting off to my uncle's in about half an hour, but before then I just wanted to say that I hope everyone has as fantastic day as they could wish for, with all the goodies you can eat/play with/leer at/etc. ^_~

I'm also going to make an attempt here to thank all the people who've sent me cards and other exciting things, so THANK YOU to [livejournal.com profile] avareece, [livejournal.com profile] athousandwinds, [livejournal.com profile] klingonpoo, [livejournal.com profile] chzbrgr_of_doom, [livejournal.com profile] pos_praiser_01, [livejournal.com profile] alsie, [livejournal.com profile] moffit, [livejournal.com profile] sou_chan, [livejournal.com profile] zerotwofan, [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai, [livejournal.com profile] merith, [livejournal.com profile] bishsticks, [livejournal.com profile] arthenice, [livejournal.com profile] perspexflowers, [livejournal.com profile] lin, [livejournal.com profile] sublimeparadigm, [livejournal.com profile] zalia, and [livejournal.com profile] spinfrog. Phew! Hope I didn't miss anyone! x_o Thank you all so much - I know I still have cards to send to some people! #^^# - and I love you all! ^_~
diamondlife: (Sweet - elastic_virtue)
Sweeeeet. @_@ I decided to indulge myself, as I'm all alone tonight (and tomorrow too *woe*), and bought Chinese from the yummy Hong Da. Thing is, I only realised after I'd eaten half of it that kung po roast pork probably wasn't the best choice, as it means nothing I've eaten today has been savoury. ^^' Crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast; tray of fruit and a chocolate bar for lunch; chocolate cheesecake after work (it's Christmas! *cough*). I love kung po sauce, but I wish I'd gone for chow mein now. *_x I got a pineapple fritter too, but as those are the sweetest (and most delicious!) things in the world, I don't even know if I can eat it. DOUBLE WOE!! *nurses glass of wine* Sweeet, sweet wine... or, in this case, sour, sour wine. Ah, relief!

Oh! And my copy of Reload 2 came yesterday! Possibly spoiler-ish ramblings about that )

I'm working tomorrow, 9-5.30. *laughs slightly unhingedly* Man, it's gonna be fun. Every man in Sheffield's gonna be glowering across the counter at us. XD

[Edit] I've finally tried Firefox again (it used to always crash on my computer, but that problem seems to have solved itself), but may I say I HATE how it just dl's stuff willy-nilly, rather than letting you choose where to put it. >:E Yeah yeah, tell me the way to alter that, but why can't it *default* to the sensible way? -_-

Must be the influence of Most Haunted, but MY HAND WAS TEMPORARILY POSSESSED and I felt compelled to click "Buy it now". *cough* Oh well, Christmas present to myself? x_o I've not even been paid by Virgin yet, and my bank balance actually frightened me last time I checked it. *shudder* Oh well, my allowance from mother should've gone in now... *crosses fingers*

It was nice to see [livejournal.com profile] zalia today! :D And if you don't mind me saying so, your parents seemed dead cool. ;) Did you get anything good in the Space Centre? ^_~

I also had to serve Dr Pettinger too. *facepalm* I didn't dare say anything, but I think he recognised me. I tried to smile at him a lot, but for some reason I didn't want to say "See you on Thursday!" - like it would've blown his cover or something. XD Speaking of the doctor, though, I had this awful dream that me and [livejournal.com profile] vanillafire went to this joint counselling thing (where we were largely left by ourselves in a room, though I remember being asked to grade how "beautiful" and "intelligent" I saw myself as right now - I gave myself 1 and 4 marks respectively on a scale of 1-10, which is about right! ^^;;), but I mentioned I didn't really like people that much, really (like that's news to her XD), and after that she hated me! ;_; It made me really sad, even after I woke up! *cling*

Oh, by the way, [livejournal.com profile] alucinaria and [livejournal.com profile] pixieking - little Yoshi is fine! He's sooooo cute!!! (Wanna swap him for a guinea pig? ^^;;)

Also got a load of cards today too! Special mention has to go to [livejournal.com profile] moffit, I think. ;) Nice thought! *leer* I've got a lot of cards this year, but I don't want to try and mention everyone cos I know I'll forget somebody! #^^# Thank you very much, though, everyone! ♥

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] almighty_frog! :D Write about five weird/quirky habits you have, then tag five more people to do the same.

Me, weird/quirky? Hmm... )

...They weren't especially exciting or unusual, but there you go. I'm sure I could think of some weirder ones if I tried... You've probably all already done this, but I tag:

[livejournal.com profile] perspexflowers
[livejournal.com profile] sublimeparadigm
[livejournal.com profile] sarinthesky
[livejournal.com profile] zalia
[livejournal.com profile] athousandwinds

Saw March of the Penguins today, which was probably not the most exciting film ever, but man those bay penguins were cute. *_* The Showroom were giving out free Penguins too. :9 Mmm, tastes like chicken chocolate.

Also had our house Christmas on Friday, which I for one enjoyed a great deal! I thought everything turned out really as well as I could have hoped, and I can't ask for more than that! ^__^ I was proud of how all the food turned out, if I say so myself, and hey, it's what I think that counts, right? I've also bought a lot of Christmas pressies recently, and I must say a huge thank you to [livejournal.com profile] zalia for the present! :D :D :D I've been very lucky this year, but also very behind, so I think there's a lot of people I meant to get/do things for and haven't yet. >.<;; New Year cards/presents OK with everyone? ^^;;

Back to work tomorrow too. *shudder*
diamondlife: (The other gay snake - lelola.net)
Today was, like, the best day EVER. Well, the part of it after about 6pm was, anyway. I went into the City Hall on the offchance that they had tickets for the League of Gentlemen tonight... and they did! And it was buy one get one free! So I did! So I ran back home, quickly ate and got changed, ran out again, and enjoyed a top-quality night of entertainment! :D :D :D (I did have to go alone, cos no-one who I thought would be interested was free/well enough to come, but still. It was AWESOME, and I'm so pleased I went!)

When I got home from work, though, I found I had two wonderful parcels! One from [livejournal.com profile] perspexflowers - they smell amazing, thank you so much! Lush is just the best! I'm going to get you something tomorrow, though I've already posted your card. ^^;; The other parcel was from [livejournal.com profile] vanillafire, direct from Japan!!!!! Of course I had to open it, and OH SWEET CHEESES it's beautiful! I love you so very, very much!! ♥♥♥ You're too good to me!!! *hyperventilates*

...I bet you're all dying to know what it is, aren't you. ;D I'm sure you won't be too surprised, due to my amusingly exaggerated glee, to learn it is the gorgeous Saiyuki artbook, Salty Dog III. Oh Minekura, your Engrish is as endearing as your art is amazing. *_*_*_*_*

So, all in all, not a bad evening. And tomorrow is our house Christmas! So I've gotta be up early to, er, buy a turkey. And everything to go with it. ^^;;
diamondlife: (Mask - gnicons)
I had a Saiyuki dream last night! ^^;; I woke up so happy, even though it wasn't exactly a happy dream, being as how it was basically identical to the fourth part of [livejournal.com profile] louiselux's batsmut, but still. It's thrown off my feelings about Saiyuki all day when I've tried to read stuff. o.o Weird.

But, it did remind me that I promised I'd upload these for a couple of people ([livejournal.com profile] almighty_frog and [livejournal.com profile] guiltyschu, so now I have your attention! :D), and I finally got around to it! ^^;; Of course, if anyone out there with even a passing interest in Saiyuki doesn't have them, I'd urge you to grab 'em, because, well, they simply demand to be read. Especially Gaiden. Tomorrow, all being well, Reload volume 2 is released by Tokyopop, so that's my lunchtime sorted - off to the Space Centre, though I have to say I don't really expect them to have it so promptly, what with one thing and another. >.<;; Oh well, that's my lunchtimes sorted for the rest of the week, then..!

Reload 2
Reload 3
Reload 4

Gaiden chapters 1-8 available here
Gaiden 9-18 [NB: **Missing the second half of chapter 15**]
Gaiden 19
Gaiden 20

Please let me know if any of the downloads are dodgy! I used Megaupload, which didn't work so well last time, but I thought I'd try anyway... :/ Enjoy, anyway! ♥

I miss the guys on main. I don't work well with women. Today was a series of things going wrong - not major things, but just stupid little ones that made me feel even more incompetent than usual. >.<;;

I did at least write a few more Christmas cards, though I haven't had chance to post any yet! Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] chzbrgr_of_doom, [livejournal.com profile] zerotwofan and [livejournal.com profile] klingonpoo, as well as those I've mentioned before, for your cards (and letters)! :D :D :D It's my favourite thing about this time of year, all the international mail. ^_~ I shall try to post mine on Wednesday, when I'm working late, so should have chance to get to the Post Office before I start work. x_o
diamondlife: (V-I-C-T-O-R-Y! - bucket_shot)
Finally got round to, er, acquiring Rufus Wainwright's Want Two. Want One was a bit disappointing - it was OK, and the good tracks were really, really good, but that only counted for about a quarter of the total number of tracks, so maybe not my favourite album ever, overall. I've only listened to tweo tracks of Want Two so far, but both have been excellent, so maybe this one will have a higher success rate. I can't wait any longer - gotta listen to Gay Messiah. XD

...How come the songs with the best titles are always such a huge disappointment? -_-

Aaaanyway. I was too dead last night to properly squee over the parcel that arrived me yesterday - thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] alsie! :D :D :D I love trying sweets from overseas, it's always so exciting! And I shall treasure the other gifts. XD Thank you so very much! ♥♥♥

Oh, why is it always so much more fun playing anonymous characters thank your own? ^^;;
