I've been feeling really thirsty these past couple of days, and also the other day I needed to pee a lot more than usual too - have consequently started worrying I have diabetes. x_o Maybe it's just that I don't drink any water, because I don't, often; but I'm sure I've been drinking as much as usual. Ah well, just the worry du jour! ^^;;

Also, from certain below-the-waist stirrings I can tell I'm going to get my period just in time for Aya. The shorts I'll be wearing are white. Cue much paranoia. >.<;; Plus, it's always uncomfortable when you're staying at someone else's house, too. -_-

I did a little work today. Better do some more now. Bah humbug! I need an icon that says "I'd rather be writing porn". ...Actually, that sounds cool. XD

Also, thank you very much to [livejournal.com profile] siscriobhann for the lovely postcard!! :D :D :D *glomp*

[Edit] Decided to post the fic I entered for [livejournal.com profile] pot_challenge the other week (you know - the one that came joint third!). So, here it is! It's based around that old chestnut that I love so much - where will the Fudoumine guys go after they finish middle school? It's vaguely Kamio/Shinji, but you can't really tell. Please let me know what you think! ^_^

Snob

"You know, Akira, you shouldn't work so hard."

For a moment, Kamio was touched at Shinji's seeming concern for his welfare, but it was short-lived as he continued after only a short pause.

"…It's not like it's going to get you anywhere. I mean, you get by in class but you're never going to be top, are you? Same as me. Well, except that I'm a bit better than you in most things, except for English, so I guess it might be harder for you, but I gave up on schoolwork ages ago. You should just concentrate on tennis, like I do. You are the captain, after all."

Kamio sighed a little testily, not liking the slightly accusing tone Shinji seemed to be taking with him. "That's OK for you to say! You've got your high school scholarship already! I'm not as good at tennis as you, so I need to actually get decent grades as well if I want to go to…" He paused. Where did he want to go, when he finished at Fudoumine? Tachibana-san had gone to Seigaku, so Kamio – and, he guessed, the rest of the team – had guessed they'd follow him there. But then, suddenly, Shinji had been offered a sports scholarship to Hyotei, and, with barely a hesitation, had accepted.

It was the sensible choice, after all – Hyotei could offer them everything Fudoumine couldn't, in terms of both tennis and academic support. But damn, Kamio had pride! He never wanted to admit Hyotei might be better, in any way! He didn't want to go to the school he'd been concentrating on defeating for the past two years! And he thought he'd die before he called Atobe "senpai"!

Shinji was staring at him, but soon gave up waiting for him to finish his sentence. "You better make up your mind soon. You've not got that long left." He stretched out on Kamio's bed, staring at the ceiling. Kamio couldn't see his face from this angle anymore. "…Maybe you had better work hard after all. Hyotei won't take you if you don't do well enough in your exams."

Kamio didn't respond, thinking in the unusual quiet. He'd not thought seriously about going to Hyotei at all, but the way Shinji said that – it almost sounded like an entreaty, made in the only way Shinji would. This time, too, Shinji didn't add anything that ruined the illusion, and Kamio let himself feel gently pleased.

So, what about it? Could he survive? It might be hard, but it would be worth it, if…

Shinji sat up again, and Kamio thought his expression was more serious than usual, though he couldn't quite say how.

"…You can work hard in school after Nationals, though. First, we're going to beat them." He smiled, as much as Shinji ever did, which, again, wasn't something Kamio would've noticed if he'd not known the guy for as long as he could remember. "Then you won't have a stupid chip on your shoulder about going to 'that poncey school' or whatever you called it the other day…" Shinji lay back down again, settling into a more comfortable monologue. "Honestly, you're just as bad as they are… you're such a reverse snob, Akira…"

Kamio grinned, getting up from his desk and shifting Shinji so there was room for them both on the bed. Somehow, the prospect of Hyotei suddenly looked much more acceptable.
