Was surprised, though pleasantly so, by the results of Jana's contest - I have to say that the one I voted for didn't place, though the one that came second was very good, and I think the one that came second was one of the ones I was torn between. ;) I'm very curious as to what was by whom! I was kind of surprised someone didn't place though *winks at... someone... who won't realise they're being winked at, but hey... ^^;;*
Of course, tonight was also the Baftas. Much anti-war speechifying, which was immensely gratifying to see (though I only understood about one word in three that Pedro Almodovar said). The Pianist did very well too (Best Director, Best Film - if The Hours had won that last one I would've started throwing things -_-); I've still not seen The Pianist, though B loved it and I could tell from the snippets I caught as he was watching it that it certainly deserved best film. City of God was robbed! robbed I say! in the foreign film category - I mean, Talk to Her already has a Golden Globe! It doesn't need a Bafta as well! -_- Though CoG did win best Editing, so all was not lost. Andy Serkis was rightly recognised, in a roundabout way, in TTT's Best SFX award *grin* All in all, not a bad showing - I really want to see The Warrior now. Best British Film, and it was the director's debut as well, and he won the special award for new directors as well. On a disappointing note, thoughm there was far too much footage of Nicole Kidman *shudder* I never realised she sounded so... Australian... it kind of redeems her a little in my eyes. *grin* Disappointing turn out from TTT guys though... No Lij! No Dom! Oh lord, what a fangirl I sound like... ^^;; Still, not so bad, not so bad. Nothing dominated, which is always good. :)
I do seem to have been busy recently! Unexpected party on Friday, which was a lot more fun than I expected... and karaoke last night! Which despite a less than massive turn out due to short notice, was a lot of fun and I sang an inordinate amount. *smirk* Metropolis on Wednesday... ^_^ I think I've lost my photos... I *hope* they're at Dave's. If they're not... they're in the Interval, and some staff are laughing at Pete's shirtless condition. *smirk* It wasn't deliberate. Honest. And tomorrow, if mark doesn't distract me too much, I shall endeavour to do some writing! *strikes ragged pose* *exit stage right*
