The Japanese Adventure - Day 31, Nara
What the hell is up with the internet here?! I can look at my LJ, and my friends page, but it won't let me access anything else! I can *connect* to the wireless, but I can't *use* the internet! o.O;;; So they let me pinch a cable out of the back of one of the PCs, and it was fine for a while - I looked at Gmail, but now I can't.
What the shit?! This has been a frustrating day. >:( I went to the place I'd supposedly booked - went all the way into the countryside on a rickety local train, but realised I hadn't written down the name of the place I was meant to be staying, cos I forgot. -_- I could've asked around about any ryokans nearby, but frankly I couldn't be arsed cos it was out in the middle of nowhere, so I just came back to Nara and booked in a really rather swanky-looking place for Y4500. I went and had omurice and then went up to one of the temples, the one with lots of nice treasures - tthe one with all the arms is seriously impressive. I can't believe some of the statues are from the 8th century! They're amazing.
But then I started to feel a bit ill so came back. But it's Sunday, so there's nothing on TV till later, and I can't use the frickin' internet in my room! -_-
Better post this before my battery runs out. Tomorrow I'll try and look at the big Buddha, and I'd like to see Horyuji too. Nara seems like a nice place, actually - small, but plenty of the important things, like food and shops. ^_~
